This is actually a catch from several days ago. Dorothy Boehmer, who with her husband Herb lives in a suite on the 3rd floor here at Westwood, found this insect on her rug, just inside a door to their patio.




 Presumably it had entered from the patio. It has a very narrow mid-section, wasp-like, which can be seen in this second picture. This narrow mid-section is not seen in the other photo because the forepart of the abdomen is elevated, making the mid-section  almost vertical. She had captured the insect and it died in the glass jar in which she brought it to me. Suggestions as to its identity?
